“I will always remember my mom being at the finish line at the end of the first day. This year’s ride will be my sixth year riding and, if I reach my goal, I will have raised $47,000.” -Tyler Hunt, June 2015

Donations in support of Tyler’s Ride to Conquer Cancer can be made here.

The Enbridge® Ride to Conquer Cancer® is a 200-kilometre cycling event held annually in July. Funds raised from the two-day event help fund cancer research and care throughout Québec and at the Segal Cancer Centre in Montréal. In Canada, an estimated 196,000 new cases of cancer and 78,000 deaths from cancer will occur annually. Chances are cancer has or will affect someone close to you.

Tyler Hunt is participating in his sixth Ride to Conquer Cancer, having raised more than $47,000 for cancer research. Growing up in a close knit family in Montréal, Tyler’s first memories of cycling are around the age of five when his mother and aunt taught him to ride a bike. His lifelong passion for cycling intensified in university and he now rides two or three times a week in Montréal. He often takes longer rides through picturesque eastern townships and in the Tremblant region.

tyler_hunt_familyCancer struck Tyler’s family when both of his parents were diagnosed with cancer. His mother, Shirley Fee, lost her lengthy painful battle with cancer in 2011. Tyler’s father, Donald, conquered cancer and has been cancer free for eighteen years.

The first year Tyler participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer was when his mother was diagnosed. In support of his parents, he was determined to push himself hard to finish the gruelling two-day event. His parents and aunt participated as volunteers, erecting more than 250 tents for the riders.

“When I am riding and feel pain in my legs I tell myself this pain is nothing in comparison to what cancer survivors have undergone, and I pedal even harder!“ -Tyler Hunt

To prepare for the multi-day cycling event, Tyler trained four times a week alternating between cycling, rock climbing and ultimate Frisbee. He has also participated in a 24-hour relay race where riders rode twice for four hours.

2015 Ride to Conquer Cancer

On July 11 and 12, cyclists will ride through Québec’s scenic countryside for the “Ride of their Life.”

Day One takes cyclists through the Montréal urban landscape deep into rustic farmland. The first day culminates with afternoon and evening entertainment at an overnight camp.

Day Two takes cyclists further into a majestic setting of tree-lined country roads and quaint villages filled with centuries-old architectural landmarks and cottages.

Join Tyler at the Finish Line in his quest to conquer cancer!

  1. Luck and success in your crusade to raise funds to fight cancer. I’m fighting a year ago against cancer. Sometimes it is difficult and appears a long way to heal, but I have faith and strength and support of my family and friends who always support me.
