Greater Victoria is a golfer’s paradise with 11 golf courses that are nestled in amongst mountains and evergreen forests, along beaches and pristine lakes. It is hard to keep your eye on the ball with the beauty that surrounds you. The southern and eastern coastlines of the island have several of British Columbia’s finest golf courses, including posh country clubs and world-class championship courses. Victoria enjoys Canada’s mildest winters, allowing for year-round golf.

Colwood

Royal Colwood Golf and Country Club

Royal Colwood Golf Club, a private golf club located in Victoria, was designed by Arthur Vernon Macan in 1913. Royal Colwood is a traditional style parklands championship course set amongst 450 year old douglas firs and majestic garry oaks. One of a select few in the world, Royal Colwood received its Royal designation from King George V in 1931. The membership of Royal Colwood comes from all walks of life, united by their common love for the grand old game of golf.

Langford

Bear Mountain Golf and Country Club

The Bear Mountain Golf and Country Club has Vancouver Island’s only 36 holes of Nicklaus Design golf. At Bear Mountain Resort you can choose between the Jack and Steve Nicklaus co-designed Mountain Course or the Nicklaus Design Valley Course, both offering amazing views of breathtaking landscape.

Olympic View Golf Club

Olympic View Golf Club, owned and operated by GolfBC, is located 20 minutes from downtown Victoria on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Olympic View Golf Club boasts a variety of golf holes that constitute individual masterpieces. The magnificence of the Olympic Mountains, roar of two spectacular waterfalls, harmony of eagles soaring and deer grazing, calmness of twelve lakes, and the stylish rock outcroppings deliver an award winning golf experience.

If some of the golf shots on this target venue quicken your pulse, the tranquility of their setting should help to calm and center you. This was the first golf course in British Columbia that Tiger Woods played as an amateur. The 17th hole encompasses enough natural beauty for an entire course. From the tee, aim toward a 40 foot waterfall that frames the green 417 yards away.

Gorge Vale Golf Club

Gorge Vale Golf Club is one of Victoria’s premier golf facilities. Designed by A Vernon Macan in 1927, this championship golf course offers members and guests a traditional, picturesque golf course with premium playing conditions. The undulating terrain and challenging layout ensures every hole is different, providing a real test for golfers of all skill levels.

Since A Vernon Macan’s original design, Gorge Vale has constantly been taking steps to enhance the playing characteristics of the course and clubhouse amenities. A 2001 renovation of the course by golf architect Les Furber, solidified Gorge Vale’s reputation as one of the best golf layouts on Vancouver Island. Gorge Vale is not just a place to play great golf; to members it is a second home.

Victoria Golf Club

Victoria Golf Club is a jewel among Canada’s premium heritage golf clubs. For more than a century it has offered challenging oceanside golf with unsurpassed views on more days of play than any other course in Canada. Golfers are often seen taking a break to do a bit of whale watching.

Saanich

Cedar Hill Golf Course

Cedar Hill Golf Course is one of the most popular golf courses in Greater Victoria. It is a 5,200 yard, par 67 course, located 10 minutes from downtown Victoria, and is open year round for public play. They are a full facility, 18 hole golf course offering CPGA lessons and affordable green fee golf. They also host tournaments. For non-golfers, the course is surrounded by a picturesque 3.5 kilometre (2.2 mile) chip trail. You will not want to miss the wonderful views this wooded trail offers. The clubhouse includes a licensed light food service for golfers and the general public together with tasty buffet choices for golf and non-golf events.

Cordova Bay Golf Course

The Cordova Bay Golf Course offers a relaxed atmosphere, stunning course conditions and spectacular views. The grass is short in the places it should be and long in others. The trees are beautiful to look at and challenging to hit from. Mt Baker rises imperiously from the horizon. As a certified Audubon Sanctuary they offer wildlife almost as beautiful as the gardens kept by their award winning grounds crew. The club has a golf shop, 18 marvelous holes and two restaurants.

Highland Pacific Golf

Highland Pacific Golf is a short drive from downtown Victoria. They are an 18 hole championship golf course that is the perfect test for golfers. The course is routed through rolling hills with stunning views and punishing drop-offs. It has plenty of targets and hazards, and features a two-tiered tee line, heated stalls and lights in the evening. Their driving range is more than 300 yards.

Prospect Lake Golf Course

Prospect Lake Golf Course is a fun nine hole golf course located outside of Victoria on the scenic shores of Prospect Lake. Come experience winding fairways and lush greens. Enjoy the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, accommodating all levels of golfers. Watch for the diverse wildlife that frequent their landscapes. Join them for golf, and then a beverage on their patio overlooking the lake!

Royal Oak Golf Club

Royal Oak Golf Club is a beautiful, and challenging nine hole golf course at a great location that is 10 minutes from downtown Victoria, and 15 minutes from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. The course is comprised of five par 4 holes and four par 3 holes, Royal Oak caters to all levels of player ability. Play nine holes of golf and then enjoy a BBQ dinner after your round in their patio or lounge.
